UK Laptop Picker
Four quick questions to see which laptop class actually fits your course, job and budget, and routes to our full laptop roundup for current deals.
Step 1 of 4
Are you currently a student or a working graduate?
What kind of course or work are you doing?
Your budget?
macOS or Windows?
Three rules before you buy
- Buy the RAM, not the storage. 16GB RAM makes more real-world difference than the step from 256GB to 512GB SSD.
- Use the student discount properly. Apple Education Store, Dell Advantage for Students, Lenovo Student Portal, HP Student Store, each saves 5 to 15 per cent.
- Refurbished beats new at the mid-range. A refurbished Dell, Lenovo or Apple laptop from the manufacturer's own store is usually 20 to 30 per cent cheaper with the same warranty.
Software discounts
Microsoft 365 is free with most UK uni emails. GitHub Student Developer Pack gives you around £150 of free software and credits. JetBrains, Autodesk and Figma all have free student plans. Check before paying for anything.
